It’s Thunking Thursday! This week, I thunked a decant of Guerlain’s Jicky eau de toilette which I’ve had for a couple of years. I got busy trying so many other things that I had sort of forgotten about it, then fell in love with it again over the holidays. The EDT is just delightful. It opens with several different citrus notes, which give it a sparkle that Jicky’s other formats don’t have, lovely as they are. The lavender note is light and refreshing, the vanilla is a mousse instead of a custard.
Jicky is considered the first “modern” perfume because of its innovative use of synthetic molecules at its creation in 1889. Guerlain perfumer Thierry Wasser has tweaked its formula over the years to make good use of today’s synthetics and accommodate IFRA standards. It is truly unisex, and I encourage you to try it if you haven’t!
What have you thunked so far in January 2019? I’m counting up readers’ “thunk points”, so feel free to brag in the comments!
I love Guerlain! So glad you enjoyed your Jicky edt. You’ve inspired me to pull out my Guerlain vintage samples to play with this weekend.
I thunked a sample of gorgeous Forte & Manle Amber Absolutely and am sure I am wishing for a FB!

I just love their bottles, and some of the names of their fragrances. “Confessions of a Garden Gnome”, lol!

The names and fragrances are very unique! I received a Fort & Manle Discovery Set for Christmas and I’m really enjoying sampling. I enjoy Charlatan and Harlem Rose as well.

Amber Absolutely, Charlatan, and Harlem Rose are my top three picks. I have so enjoyed the evolution of each on my skin. Of the three, I’d purchase a full bottle of Charlatan first because it is unique and I don’t have anything quite like it.
It is so fun to explore a fragrance house discovery set to compare and contrast the scents.

I have scent devouring skin so I am known to re-apply throughout the day. Plus I also wear perfume at night 🙂

I always apply before work but often forget to reapply later in the day, until I get home. Then I often try something else! I don’t always wear a fragrance to bed, but I have a few bedtime scents that feel right to me — warm, intimate, cozy, but not overpowering. Donna Karan Cashmere Mist Pearl Essence is one; L’Artisan’s Oeillet Sauvage is another; sometimes Adam Levine for Women.

Do you enjoy L’ambre de merveilles? Every time I sample it, I love it. Thinking about FB some day.

I do enjoy it. I think it’s longer lasting than the original Merveilles. If you are near a Sephora go in and ask for samples of it. You can get three free samples every time you go. This may satisfy your itch until you can get a full bottle.

I like it too. Still have a partial sample, so that might be my next thunk, now that you’ve reminded me!

Thank for the tip about samples at Sephora, I didn’t know that.

I love Guerlains as well. I haven’t thunked any yet !!!

Which are your favorites? It was easier to thunk the Jicky EDT because it was a smallish decant, not a full bottle. I think I will be thunk-challenged when it comes to bottles unless I already have a back up.

I’ve got a lot of Guerlains.I love them all. I think Samsara….Mitsouko…L’Heure Blure. Shalimar souffle are high up in my collection. The AA’s perfect for everyday wear.

I like the AAs I have. I love Shalimar Cologne 2015; the first Shalimar I really “got” was the different eau de cologne. Have not yet tried Souffle!

An excellent first thunk! The Jicky EDT really is sparkling and aromatic, which makes it stand out from the other Jicky formulations.
I still haven’t thunked any perfumes yet in 2019!

Maybe you will have thunked one by next Thursday! This weekly post is an attempt by me to remind myself to use what I have, but it’s fun too, and I love reading what others are doing.
You’re right about how aromatic the Jicky EDT is; that’s one reason why I’m loving it. I find I consistently enjoy scents with evident notes of aromatics, herbs, green notes. I think that’s the gardener in me!

Thunked a sample of Eau de Missions, SL Vitriol d´Oillet and Bottega Veneta pour Homme Extreme. I like Jicky a lot too, must wear it more often.
