Thunking Thursday: Miu Miu L’Eau Bleue

There’s a breath of spring in the air this morning (unlike yesterday, which was cold, rainy, and windy), so the sample I thunked today was Miu Miu’s L’Eau Bleue. This was the first flanker to the original Miu Miu, launched in 2015. L’Eau Bleue came along in early 2017. Meant to evoke light and happy spring awakenings, it is described on Fragrantica:

Spring flowers of lily of the valley in the top go into the heart of green notes and white flowers covered with morning dew. An akigalawood accord, a molecule developed by Givaudan which smells of patchouli, peppery notes and woody flavors of oud, forms the base of the perfume.

The nose is Daniela Andrier. Most wearers find the lily of the valley note to be quite dominant, and it is clearly present, though I don’t find it as dominant as others do. It’s not a heavy note, it is quite airy, but it stands out among the other light, dewy notes. I love lily of the valley and so I’ve enjoyed my sample of L’Eau Bleue. I don’t need a full bottle, although if a mini of the adorable bottle fell in my lap, I wouldn’t refuse it!

This would be an ideal scent for a girl or young woman who is just beginning her fragrance journey. Can you suggest any others?

  1. I’ve sampled the original Mui Mui and it was pretty, but too green floral for me. I could see it being nice for a girl or young woman new to perfume journey, as you describe the L’eau Bleu. I recently asked fellow perfume blog readers about fragrances for a young girl (my niece who adores perfume at the age of 5!). Suggestions for a girl her age included perfumes by Avon and Pacifica. I’ll be buying her first fragrance for her birthday in April, so I am looking forward to other posts answering your question. I recently sampled Dior Blooming Bouquet which I think would be lovely for a girl/young woman.

    • Dior Blooming Bouquet is the favorite scent of my second daughter! It’s really perfect for her, and I bet your niece would love it. Yves Rocher has several pretty florals, affordable and in pretty bottles. But it’s so tempting to be the cool aunt who provides the first “name” scent! Remember, you’re likely to create a lifelong bond, so choose wisely! Which do you trust to provide consistent quality when she is a grownup?

      • Good point Old Herbaceous. I’ll bet your second daughter smells beautiful in Dior Blooming Bouquet. It is a fresh and pretty floral. I will heed your advice and choose wisely; agreed this will be a lifelong bond and one can’t go wrong with Dior. I already know I’ve created a special bond with her and I through perfume.I would have thought 5-6 too young to fall down the perfume rabbit hole but you and her proved me wrong! I use and enjoy Yves Roches shower gels and lotions, I’ll look at their perfumes as well.

  2. Your question made me think hard, but I came up with an answer! I think, Ineke’s After my own heart would be a good choice. Also, her Floral Curiosities collection might be suitable for younger wearers.
