Today is the last day of May, and the end of my blogging “Roses de Mai Marathon”! Thanks, all of you who came with me on this journey — I have loved reading your suggestions and comments.
I was planning to write today about 4160 Tuesdays’ Red Queen, the fragrance that perfumer Sarah McCartney created for Michelyn Camen to celebrate Cafleurebon’s anniversary. It is a rose fragrance made for people who don’t normally like rose fragrances, or like very few. But like Caitlin at This Side of Perfume, I live in an American city that has been rocked by protests and violence this weekend, and I am both distracted and disturbed (though blessed to be safe). Also like Caitlin, I ask that you not engage in controversy in my comments section, although I’m happy to see check-ins and confirmations of safety.
So instead of writing about Red Queen (which I promise to do another time), I’m going to name some of the rose-centered fragrances I had on my list and didn’t get to this May. Maybe I’ll run this race again next year! Please feel free to add your suggestions in the comments.

I’ve previously reviewed some of my favorite roses: Montale’s Intense Cafe; Aramis’ Calligraphy Rose, Jo Malone’s Tudor Rose & Amber, and Gres’ Cabaret. Another rose I’ve reviewed is Commodity’s Velvet; I like it a lot, but haven’t worn it enough to declare it a favorite. I’m sure there are others that I’m overlooking!
Again, thank you for staying the course of this “Roses de Mai Marathon” with me. The race is over! I hope you are all staying safe and well.

In your list of not included I’ve got both Nahema and Diva, I enjoy them both.

I have struggled with Nahema. I’ll pull it out again this summer and give it another try. What is it you like about it?

Besides the heavy rose I get honey, violet , geranium and vanilla. I agree that it might not be to everyones taste, so I’d advise try before you buy.

I have enjoyed your May Rose marathon very much. Your reviews are amazingly descriptive and I feel that I understand without sniffing, how the perfume smells. I may have missed a few of your posts, not sure I you reviewed Amouage Lyric or Ormande Jayne Rose Gold, two rose fragrances that I enjoy. Thank you for all of your time providing us all something beautiful to read.

Thank you for an enjoyable visit to the rose gardens. So many I’m not familiar with. I have Tobacco Rose and Firedance, I mostly wear those when I’m going out out. Imagine, there was a time when we went out. It feels like aeons ago. Glad you’re safe and well. Just when the world is already in such a state of turmoil something else happens to add to it.

Yes, and the past week was even more turbulent. Our household is still safe and well, though, and I’m thankful for that.
