Today is Friday, October 15, and we are back from a New England beach town where our niece celebrated her wedding last weekend! It was a great getaway, and one of the real pleasures was that the rental house where we stayed had a huge stand of Rosa rugosa right by the front entryway. These are the classic “beach roses” you see all over the New England coast (and other coastlines) and they are highly fragrant. This one smelled rosy and spicy, with a very clear accord of true cinnamon. It was just gorgeous, although I do have mixed feelings about cinnamon (usually when it is artificial). And as the regulars here know, I do love a rose fragrance, lol!
We also gloried in the gusts of fresh sea air right off the ocean, with all the notes of seaweed, sand, driftwood, and seaside plants. The “beach fragrances” we didn’t sense were the ones associated with suntan lotion, because it was cool enough that we and everyone else stayed bundled up. What a tonic for body and spirit! We stayed for a full week that included the actual wedding weekend, as it was quite a long trip to make from the South, and we’re so glad we did that. We don’t get to see the ocean as much as we would like, since we live at least a five-hour drive from the coast down here, and this weeklong visit was just what we needed.

Serenity Now Scents and Sensibilities 
I like What I did on my holidays for a fun take of a beach scent. Or Pulitzer Beachy for a more tropical beach. I also bought Fiore dell Onda in Italy this summer, because it smells like sea water and algae, reminds me of Acqua di Sale, but it’s not so strong, which is a plus in my book.

Fiore dell Onda sounds intriguing. I’ve never tried Beachy — such a cute name! What I Did On My Holidays is one of a few 4160 Tuesdays scents I haven’t tried, but it always sounds so appealing.

I’m not too imaginative when it comes to pairing anything to anything, so my beach perfume is Jo Malone Sea Salt & Caramel for cool shores and Bronze Goddess for tropical ones.
I’m glad that you had a good trip: we all deserve some time off/out of our homes after the COVID-19 seclusion.
I’m curious: why are you not inserting your pictures inside your posts? Those feature pictures show up only when one looks at the blog as a roll, but most of us subscribe to the blog updates – so, the link brings us directly inside the post, and we don’t see that picture. Today I guessed that there might be a picture of the rose, about which you were talking, and deliberately went a level up to see it. But usually I don’t do it, and I wouldn’t be surprised if others didn’t either.

It sounds like a wonderful trip, especially being on the beach. I’m a cool weather beach person myself. I love the beach with a brisk wind and some cold sea spray. Bring it on!! I’ve never seen the roses you describe, but the perfumer from D.S. & Durga was describing those exact roses in the beautyhabit class last week. The D.S. & Durga scent based on these roses and the marine accords is called Rose Atlantic. You may like it. It had too much of the salt and sea smells in it for my taste, but many of the people attending the class really liked Rose Atlantic.
I’ve been doing some sampling and I did find a new fragrance that I really like, Etat Libre d’Orange’s Ghost in the Shell. It has lots of aldehydes and it’s light and breezy and rather ethereal, with some futuristic vibes, too. I instantly loved it. It’s different from any of the other fragrances I have and Twisted Lily offers 15% off a full bottle of any fragrance you sample with them, so I went for it. I’m looking forward to spraying it like crazy! I also like ELDO’s Divine Enfant, which is in iris fragrance with a quirky popcorn note. Sounds weird, but it’s quite delightful.

I bet I would like Rose Atlantic, thanks for describing it! Ghost Shell sounds lovely. I like a number of ELDO fragrances, Divine Enfant sounds like another one I would enjoy. I wore Penhaligon’s Elisabethan Rose 2016 tonight, to a family gathering, so I’m still getting my rose fix even in October..

That’s a fabulously coloured Rose. I’d love to get a whiff of it. When I think beachy scent the first one that pops up in my head is Bronze Goddess. Have you ever sniffed Calvin Klein Reveal? It’s a very good salty woods. Francesca Bianchi Sex and the Sea is beautiful and definitely has all the elements in there.
