Welcome to the weekly Perfume Chat Room, perfumistas! I envision this chat room as a weekly drop-in spot online, where readers may ask questions, suggest fragrances, tell others their SOTD, comment on new releases or old favorites, and respond to each other. The perennial theme is fragrance, but we can interpret that broadly. This is meant to be a kind space, so please try not to give or take offense, and let’s all agree to disagree when opinions differ. In fragrance as in life, your mileage may vary! YMMV.
Today is Friday, October 9, and it has been a wet and gloomy day here. However, that inspired me to pull out a favorite fragrance I haven’t worn in a while: Penhaligon’s Blasted Bloom. Although I often think of a sunlit day when I wear it, today it just suited the somewhat British weather.
In other news, I got my absentee ballot this week, filled it out, dropped it off in an official ballot drop box at the entrance to my local public library, and was just able to confirm online that it has been received and “accepted”! It was very easy and very safe.
How was your week? Any new or rediscovered favorites?
Good for you! I’m waiting for my mail-in ballot to arrive. I finally got a sample of Fig Tea and discovered that I much prefer Osmanthus Interdite, of which I have a full bottle, so no FOMO!

I did the same with my ballot. Had the election office staff confirm that my signature was accepted and I had done the envelope certificate right while I was there. Put it in the special box for ballots and confirmed acceptance. I feel better now. Everyone, please get those absentee ballots in! Don’t give anyone a chance to say your vote isn’t valid!

I agree! I submitted mine early enough that if there were any problem, I had time to fix it.

As for perfume, I wore Guerlain’s Promenade Anglais today, love it, even though I know many folks don’t like it. Also bought Jo Malone’s Blue Agave & Cacao that was recently brought back in the JM Archive collection they are now calling it. It has great longevity and I’m really enjoying it. It has a real fall vibe to it, I think.

It was so cold and grey that I pulled out Fille en Aiguilles today. Hope to go cycling a bit on Sunday

I always bring my ballot to the closest voting place even though for years we officially didn’t have a place to vote in person (not enough people in the area where I live). I would have preferred to vote in person (in the previous years), but this year I’m fine with just dropping it off.
This week I was on my staycation. JM Yuja proved to be nice and non-invasive on my long hike a couple of days ago. NVC Pichola was quite pleasant on a wine-testing trip yesterday.

Hi OH,
Woo Hoo! Voting! Fingers crossed for happier outcomes.
We had loads of social stuff this weekend. Friday dinner with the crew, Saturday morning brunch at a new Korean Rice Cake Cafe, it was a bit not my thing but always fun to try new stuff. In the evening we went and watched the national Rugby League semi finals, sadly Jin’s team were thrashed. Sunday we had a bunch of different friends to ours for morning tea and then I hosted Trivia in the night.
Loads of different perfumes worn but the most reached for was Halfeti Leather by Penhaligon’s. So we snap on house. YAY!
Portia xx
