Welcome to the weekly Perfume Chat Room, perfumistas! I envision this chat room as a weekly drop-in spot online, where readers may ask questions, suggest fragrances, tell others their SOTD, comment on new releases or old favorites, and respond to each other. The perennial theme is fragrance, but we can interpret that broadly. This is meant to be a kind space, so please try not to give or take offense, and let’s all agree to disagree when opinions differ. In fragrance as in life, your mileage may vary! YMMV.
Today is Friday, August 19, and here comes the rain again! Luckily the guys who come once a month to help with my yard and garden came yesterday and pulled up tons of weeds that grew like a jungle during the rainy weeks when we were in New Hampshire. I’ll be doing more of that this weekend, weather permitting!
In honor of Coco Chanel’s birthday, Now Smell This has a community project to wear a Chanel fragrance. So of course, I’m wearing Chanel No. 19, which was named for her birthdate (August 19). Double NST community points for me! And it is VERY green, which I love. No. 19 is one of my perennial (pun intended) fragrance loves. I have it in the vintage eau de toilette formulation, and it’s just wonderful.

How about you? Do you have a favorite Chanel fragrance? Are you being taken over by plants of any kind, fragrant or not?
We spent the afternoon watching a joint practice/scrimmage at Case Western. Had a nice dinner in Little Italy with son, roommate and his two high school teammates who are here (and one other set of parents). First time seeing him since drop off for camp, we will be back on 9/3 for the first home game. Going to be putting a lot of miles on the car this fall. I missed the Chanel NST project, decided to wear Britney Spears Believe which I got super cheap- it’s a decent Fruitchouli for a celebrity fragrance. Perhaps I’ll wear my Paris-Deauville tomorrow!

Ooh, yes, Paris-Deauville! I hope your son is enjoying himself. It’s such a big transition, but very exciting too. It’s nice he has teammates there too!

Your son is going to Case Western now, right? That’s a very good school. The games will be lots of fun to watch I’m sure.

It would be No. 19 for me as well. The only recent plant activity in my apartment is that my other half re-potted a succulent… neither of us have “green thumbs”!

No. 19 really is sublime, to me.

No. 19 is a great all-rounder and has been getting a lot of wear this year. It’s the edt and I’m considering buying the edp at some stage. No gardening activity here, don’t even have to do the lawn ourselves. Have been busy all summer with family and friends, work is quiet until mid September so I have a couple more weeks that kick back a bit.

No. 19 is great, but my favorite Chanel of all time is Jersey. I adore lavender and Chanel did such a good job with Jersey. My favorite is the pure parfum. Same with Beige. I love it most in the pure parfum version. I wore Bois des Iles recently. I’m ready for fall, but we have to get through hurricane season first, sigh!
I need to get another bottle of Deauville and the Deauville body wash. I used up both of my original bottles.
