Today is Friday, April 23, and I have a new, fragrant tree to plant! It is called a “buckwheat tree”, it is native to the Southeast, and this particular variety has pink flowers. They’re very fragrant, and I’m having fun deciding where to plant it so we can enjoy its fragrance. Luckily, it doesn’t get very large, so I have options.
I’ve been on a bit of a vintage kick lately; I just got a small bottle of Paco Rabanne’s Metal, which I quite like. It’s a green chypre floral that launched in 1979. Fragrantica lists its notes as follows: top notes are Hyacinth, Aldehydes, Green Notes, Basil and Lemon; middle notes are Lily-of-the-Valley, iris, Jasmine, Cyclamen, Rose, Ylang-Ylang and Tuberose; base notes are Oakmoss, Vetiver, Musk, Amber and Sandalwood.
I have some new green fragrances to review and also a couple of new LOTV/muguet fragrances, so my “May Marathon” will probably be a melange. Maybe that’s what I’ll call it: “May Melange Marathon”! What do you think?

May Melange Marathon has a nice ring to it. Let’s see what you come up with. PR Metal was a gem, as was Calandre. I didn’t discover them until the early 80s and bought them both. The more I think back to the perfumes of that era (70s & 80s) and the price we paid for such outstanding quality mainstream fragrances the more I think that the great age of perfumery may be behind us. Today I’m wearing my nineteen-year-old Dior Addict. Such a unique one, I have nothing in my collection that even vaguely resembles this. I had a busy day in the garden, weeding and weeding. Knelt in a nettle patch (do you have nettles there?) so have two tingling knees tonight, plus arms, and I’m out of antihistamine ointment so it will be jiggly legs in bed later😬 My Broom is gorgeously fragrant with some busy bees already. Love this time of year so much.

I’m searching some of my muguet fragrances. I always associate May with muguet. Every year I want to buy the Guerlain annual LOTV/muguet offering. This year’s is SO gorgeous, but I’m sure over $200 of the price is for the decorated bottle and that’s more then I can afford for pretty stuff. I’ll just admire the photos!
I’ll be wearing my decant of Lucky by Armani, a pretty soft muguet scent, later this week. It has no lasting power at all, unfortunately, but it’s very pretty. I’m also wearing Alghabra’s Scent of Paradise, a gorgeous green scent with citruses and light florals.

I enjoy green fragrances – May Melange sounds great. My Friday favorite is Chris Rusak Bluer Skies. By the end of the day we actually got blue skies, and it’s warming back up again after the snow on Wednesday.

Also, I love a retro green floral too. So many excellent choices and a breadth of styles. This is going to be a fun post.
