Today is Friday, September 10, and we are seeing many programs about 9/11, with its 20th anniversary tomorrow. A somber date, to be sure. However, I am choosing to dwell on this week’s scientific revelation that hummingbirds do, indeed, have a sense of smell: Hummingbirds Use Sense of Smell to Avoid Danger. We had many visits from hummingbirds this summer, more than we’ve ever had before. I credit my new, cheap feeder that I put on a short stake in the rail planter of herbs on our deck, right outside the kitchen door. My husband claims that he has a magic touch when it comes to making sugar water. Whatever the reason, we’ve enjoyed their visits very much! Those have tapered off recently, I think due to migration patterns.
Who knew that they have a sense of smell? Nature is miraculous.
As previously reported, I have been drawn into a zoning battle with our city on behalf of our neighborhood, so I’m wearing a lot more Chanel No. 19 than usual. I feel it stiffens my backbone. Do you have a scent that makes you feel brave?

It seems so magical that you get hummingbirds in your yard. We don’t even have them in Oz.
Good luck with the council. Lately I think DIOR Mitzah and Aether Methaldone are my spine stiffeners but No 19 has long been a good one for it too.
We are still in lockdown here but can see the light at the end of the tunnel. they’ve promised double vexed people October 18 will be less stringent. Starting with venues reopening at reduced capacity. It will be so good to get back to work.

It has been a long ordeal for you! Over here, most of us are so fed up with the people who refuse to get vaccinated, or wear masks. Our poor healthcare workers are so exhausted, too.

We are having the same problem here OH.
Selfish assholes who could and should be charged with murder, or at least manslaughter. The stories coming out of our hospitals are terrifying.
Gah! Why are we our own worst enemies?

I have perfume that I wear for tough work-related situations – SL Boxeuses (I’m extremely proud of my phone’s predictive abilities: it knew this name! 🙂 ). I hope No 19 will help you to overcome the issue you’re fighting.
We have hummingbirds in our area, and I like them very much. I need to buy a bird feeder! I just realized that I’ve never thought (or forgot) about birds’ abilities related to scents. Interesting!

We have hummingbirds and we saw some in my son’s yard when we visited as well. If anyone watches PBS there have been some Nature shows about hummingbirds that are quite fascinating. Apparently where there are many of them, as in South American rainforests, the little male hummingbirds get into epic battles over who gets particular flowers. I’ve never seen any hummingbird battles here, but they do seem to love hummingbird feeders.
Which reminds me of perfume, I still need to get a decant of Zoologist hummingbird as I really love my sample. As I noted on Undina’s board, I’m trying to buy smaller bottles and decants of at least some scents. Don’t want to waste any gorgeous juice!
