Welcome to the weekly Perfume Chat Room, perfumistas! I envision this chat room as a weekly drop-in spot online, where readers may ask questions, suggest fragrances, tell others their SOTD, comment on new releases or old favorites, and respond to each other. The perennial theme is fragrance, but we can interpret that broadly. This is meant to be a kind space, so please try not to give or take offense, and let’s all agree to disagree when opinions differ. In fragrance as in life, your mileage may vary! YMMV.
Today is Friday, April 22, and I’m delighted to say that my husband and I will be traveling overseas again next month, for the first time since 2020! We’ve just finalized our plans, and I’m so excited. My May blog posts may be a little spotty as a result — I doubt I’ll be able to do a daily marathon as I have in past Mays. I’ll be able to do a Scent Semantics post on time, though!
Our last international trip was to Jamaica, in the first week of March 2020, just before the world shut down. Our last trip to Europe was in the summer of 2019. Now I’m figuring out all the documentation rules; we’re fully vaccinated and boosted, and we’ll go get second boosters this weekend, but the paperwork for the EU is a bit daunting. And then there’s the requirement to be tested before returning to the US, although that seems to be in flux too. Luckily the second half of our trip is for my husband’s work, and so his office will make sure we have everything we need to comply with return requirements.
Have you started traveling between countries again?

I’ve booked a trip to France with three nights nights in Grasse to explore the perfume museum and lavender fields! ❤️

Wonderful! I haven’t been to Grasse since my honeymoon, many years ago! I hope you have a wonderful time.

We went to Anfi Beach Club in early January this year. Some warmth & sunlight was delightful. The travel requirements changed in the days before we flew out but all tests were negative so all was good.
Enjoy your trip

Enjoy the long awaited trip. Will there be a little time for perfume shopping? My last time on a plane was 2nd January 2020. Tomorrow will be my next. A couple of days in London for a family event. Doubt there’ll be time for any sneaky sniffing🤨

I hope so! One stop will be Milan. Does anyone have any favorite perfumeries there?

We have been to Hilton Head and Florida. No imminent plans for international travel, not terribly interested in jumping through all of the current hoops and with my son graduating this June, we don’t really have time until after next football season anyway! Wearing Ostara today, just as my daffodils/narcissus are finishing their run.

You know I’ve been wearing Ostara quite a bit this week, with the NST Community Project!

Yep! Just returned from Australia. Lake Como in June for my daughter’s wedding and meeting friends in July in Lisbon, then traveling on to France. It is wonderful to be traveling again, and making up for lost time! Have a wonderful trip!

That sounds so wonderful! I have a number of health related things to get out of the way before I do any big trips, and we’re visiting the grandbabies regularly, but Italy is definitely on my destination list. I’ve visited once, but once is never enough! Have a wonderful time!
I think Laboratorio Olfattivo is located in Milan. They at least have a store there. I am a fan of their creations so that would be a nice shop to visit. I hope you will share some photos with us when you return.

Ooh, I like several OL fragrances, especially Decou-Vert (a great muguet) and Nirmal. Thanks for the suggestion!

Woo Hoo! So exciting OH. Can’t wait to read about your adventures. Maybe you could do a couple of photo essays instead of posts? I LOVE seeing other peoples adventures on holiday.
Milan has Campo Marzio 70, great selection, horrible staff.

We have been doing a bit of Australian travel but nothing OS yet. Fingers crossed for the near future.
