Welcome to the Friday Perfume Chat Room, perfumistas! I envision this chat room as a weekly drop-in spot online, where readers may ask questions, suggest fragrances, tell others their SOTD, comment on new releases or old favorites, and respond to each other. The perennial theme is fragrance, but we can interpret that broadly. This is meant to be a kind space, so please try not to give or take offense, and let’s all agree to disagree when opinions differ. In fragrance as in life, your mileage may vary! YMMV.
Today is Friday, March 10, and we are just back from Spain and Portugal, totally jet-lagged. But what a great trip we had! I’m going to have to take up running to burn off all the pounds I gained from so much good food.
I’m so pleased with another perfume find: Yvresse! A discontinued YSL fragrance originally created by Sophia Grosjman, it seems to have been discontinued some time ago. It is prohibitively expensive in the US, when it can even be found. I found mine in a tiny perfumery, at a very reasonable price.

Aficionados know that Yvresse was originally named Champagne, until French winemakers took legal action to prevent that name’s use. Have you ever tried Yvresse?
I’m so pleased you had a fabulous Iberian trip. Yvresse was d/ced but, certainly in the UK it came back in the cube bottle along with Y, In Love Again & Nu. It was never my favourite. Something in there made my throat scratchy & ears itch! No ideas which note, natural or aromachemical caused it.

I have that new square bottle of Yvresse and also some of the original Champagne. Still similar but newer one has more of a musky feel.

So glad you had a great trip! I have never tried Yvresse, my perfume journey started too late. I’m running around with my son who is home for spring break. He likes to take advantage of mom’s Target red card…. Wearing SJP Covet today, which is my favorite weirdo perfume.

Glad you had a great trip with good food and perfume! I haven’t smelled Yvresse, but with talk of the champagne note, I’ve been hankering after Les Liquides Imaginaires Dom Rosa again.

The original Yvresse had a sparkly champagne type quality. I haven’t tried any of the reformulations. Glad you were able to get a bottle at a good price. I’m happy that you enjoyed your trip so much. Get some rest and recover now.

Welcome back! I’m glad you enjoyed the trip. (And sorry that you had to come back already 🙂 )
I am not sure whether I tried Yvresse. I think no, but I might be mistaken. Anyway, congratulation on your find!

Lots of perfume and good food, that’s a holiday! Glad you had a good time, now take it easy for the weekend and regroup. I have the original Champagne which is much richer and more unctuous than the new bottle of Yvresse, which is done with a lighter touch and has more fuzzy edges imo.
