Perfume Chat Room, June 9

Welcome to the weekly Perfume Chat Room, perfumistas! I envision this chat room as a weekly drop-in spot online, where readers may ask questions, suggest fragrances, tell others their SOTD, comment on new releases or old favorites, and respond to each other. The perennial theme is fragrance, but we can interpret that broadly. This is meant to be a kind space, so please try not to give or take offense, and let’s all agree to disagree when opinions differ. In fragrance as in life, your mileage may vary! YMMV.

Today is Friday, June 9, and it really feels like summer here now. I’ve been enjoying some more “summery” fragrances; today’s SOTD is Tom Ford’s Bitter Peach, from a decant. I really like it, but I won’t be needing a full bottle at the brand’s prices. Happy to have this decant, though! Earlier this week, I wore Christian Dior’s La Colle Noire, a perennial favorite (again, from a decant).

If you haven’t yet read this month’s “Notes on Notes“, on this blog and at Australian Perfume Junkies, please do, and add your thoughts about citrus in fragrances! Or feel free to comment here, about any favorite citrus notes or favorite citrus-forward fragrances, or anything citrus-related.

  1. I grabbed Nicolaï Cap Neroli today. It’s quite pleasant here – 70s which I could live with all summer (I do not enjoy those 90 degree high humidity days!). I had a big conference last weekend (300 people) – I was the overall coordinator with a committee of volunteers. Finally starting to feel recovered from it. Thankfully also on my summer break from game photography. I hope to use some of the free time to work on my next project – “sportraits” – essentially using creative lighting to make interesting “action” portraits of athletes. Rather than trying to enter the local senior picture market, this is a market that no one in my community has tapped. We’ll see how it goes- I have a LOT to learn. I have learned that the summer slips away quickly so I need to get going quickly!! Enjoy the weekend!

  2. We are having a very sunshiny winter here in Parramatta, today 16C/60f and a light breeze. It feels like spring so I am wearing CB I Hate Perfume Narcissus.
Tonight we are off to see Conductor Maasaki Suzuki directing Mozart’s powerful Great Mass in C minor with my BFF and our fave Aunty. Dinner first and then a quick quiz at Sydney’s ViVid festival of lights beforehand.
    Perfect Saturday night.

  3. It’s uncharacteristically cool for this time of the year in our area. I do not complain: I prefer it this way. But on the flip side, I do not wear any of my summer perfumes – and there are a couple I look forward to. But I’m sure there will be plenty of hot days ahead. Probably more than I’d like.
