Perfume Chat Room, January 25

Welcome to the weekly Perfume Chat Room, perfumistas! I envision this chat room as a weekly drop-in spot online, where readers may ask questions, suggest fragrances, tell others their SOTD, comment on new releases or old favorites, and respond to each other. The perennial theme is fragrance, but we can interpret that broadly. This is meant to be a kind space, so please try not to give or take offense, and let’s all agree to disagree when opinions differ. In fragrance as in life, your mileage may vary! YMMV.

Today is Sunday, January 25, and I apologize for having gone AWOL this month. I’ve been distracted by several big landscape projects, a neighborhood effort to get historic district status and halt demolition of old houses, and, of course, the current situation in the US. Enough said about that.

Yesterday, though, I had a wonderful break with our daughters, visiting the current (but soon to close) exhibit of Victor&Rolf fashion at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. And of course, it covered their perfume, Flowerbomb!

The exhibit was so much fun, and also thought-provoking.

The craftsmanship was extraordinary.

As someone who enjoys needlework and sewing, I was as stunned by the couture skills on display as I was by the artistic imagination.

And the museum gift shop was selling the three versions of Flowerbomb: the original, Flowerbomb Extreme, and Flowerbomb Tiger Lily. Of the three, I prefer the original, though it’s sweeter than my usual taste. Have you tried Victor&Rolf fragrances? What are your thoughts?

  1. Those dresses are mindblowing! I don’t think I’ve ever been a fan of Flowerbomb, but I’ve also never spend much time with it. Viktor & Rolf have a recent collaboration with Mattel and Disney that dresses Barbie dolls, which is also interesting.

  2. Every Duty Free I’ve ever travelled through has freaked if Flowerbomb!
I once won a bottle of the OG Flowerbomb signed by Victor & Rolf. I ended up selling it as I would never wear it & a real fan should own it
