Welcome to the weekly Perfume Chat Room, perfumistas! I envision this chat room as a weekly drop-in spot online, where readers may ask questions, suggest fragrances, tell others their SOTD, comment on new releases or old favorites, and respond to each other. The perennial theme is fragrance, but we can interpret that broadly. This is meant to be a kind space, so please try not to give or take offense, and let’s all agree to disagree when opinions differ. As regular readers know, I am in the middle of a “Roses de Mai Marathon” during which I am trying to post a daily review of a different rose scent. That will continue today (post will come later), but in the meantime, please feel free to chat! At an appropriate social distance, of course.
Today is May 22, the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. Do you have any special plans? Do you plan to seek out any fragrance sales? I haven’t yet seen any special codes for Memorial Day, but some of the department stores are having sales. Macy’s has 20% off many fragrances, including the Maison Lancome line that features Iris Dragees and Jasmins Marzipane. Serenity Now Scents and Sensibilities 
Happy Friday! I’m wrapping up a weekly of (mostly) iris with Atelier Iris Rebelle. I also wore Hiris, Infusion d’Iris and Atelier Silver Iris. Yesterday, feeling particular melancholy, iris didn’t appeal so I wore Chris Rusak Bluer Skies which on my skin has jasmine all the way through. Plus the sky was actually blue for once (rain again today!) Here in Pittsburgh we have gone to “yellow” as far as reopening things, which doesn’t mean a whole lot – still no restaurant sit down service, no church (I play in our praise band and our service is not the one being live-streamed.) The other good news is that the state HS athletic association has said that restarting sports workouts will be county by county so we don’t have to wait for the harder hit Philly area. My son, who is desperate to rejoin his football teammates even if for social distanced workouts, was happy to hear that. We are still wondering if they will play in the fall – he will be a junior so the loss of a season would be pretty devastating. (I am the team photographer and would be sad, too).

Oh lordy, I cannot even remember what I put on early this morning LOL!! It was one of my roll on perfume oils…that much I know. This WFH is turning my brain to mush.

MMK, fingers crossed for your son’s sports season! My own son was less disturbed by the loss of his high school graduation ceremony than he was by the loss of his lacrosse season this spring. Thank goodness he made it through his last football summer and season this past fall, before all this! Lacrosse was a blow, though; he has been patiently backing up the older starting goalie, an All-American college-recruited player, waiting his turn to start. That was supposed to be this spring. He started in three games before it all ended. And that was that. He took it well, but it was a real disappointment. He got the nicest email from one of the coaches, acknowledging how hard he had worked and how long he had looked forward to his senior season. And really, most high school sports comes down to character-building and the deep friendships the kids make, so he got the benefit of all that for four years. It still stung, though. So I hope your son gets to rejoin his team soon!
