Welcome to the weekly Perfume Chat Room, perfumistas! I envision this chat room as a weekly drop-in spot online, where readers may ask questions, suggest fragrances, tell others their SOTD, comment on new releases or old favorites, and respond to each other. The perennial theme is fragrance, but we can interpret that broadly. This is meant to be a kind space, so please try not to give or take offense, and let’s all agree to disagree when opinions differ. In fragrance as in life, your mileage may vary! YMMV.
Today is Friday, April 2, and it is Good Friday, for those who celebrate Easter. I love Easter! Today is a solemn day in the Christian church, but it is also the start of one of my favorite holiday weekends, during one of my favorite times of year. In my part of the US, we are enjoying a full outbreak of spring, with daffodils, tulips, and other bulbs blooming in profusion, flowering trees in full blossom, green leaves tipping the tree branches, and longer days of sunshine. The fact that this week has been unusually cool and wet is letting me make up for some lost time in planting seeds that prefer to germinate in colder temperatures. There’s always a silver lining! And today, while chillier than usual, is bright and sunny.
My lilies of the valley are getting ready to bloom outdoors, which is always an opportunity for me to compare muguet-centered fragrances with the real thing. I also have a potted Easter lily for indoors, and some forced hyacinths to bring inside, so my weekend will be filled with the scents of spring. Now I just have to decide which fragrances to wear myself! As many of you know, I lean strongly toward greens and florals, which work well for spring and Easter. I’m sure my perennial favorite, Ostara, will make an appearance this weekend.
I’m happy that all three of our kids will be home for the holiday; one has also invited a friend. Our church has set up for outdoor services, with groups of seats appropriately spaced, and other safety protocols. I’m looking forward to that; they did that last week for Palm Sunday, and it was very meaningful to be back onsite, even outside. I’ll cook the usual Easter Sunday feast, with roast lamb and spring asparagus plus other assorted side dishes. If you celebrate Easter, do you have any special plans?
Happy Easter! I hope you’ll have a wonderful weekend with your family.
This is not my holiday, but we try to celebrate all the main holidays, so I’m going to organize a “treat hunt” for Rusty this Sunday.
I was looking at lilies at the store, but we cannot leave it out in the living room because Rusty would try to eat it. And I cannot put it into the bedroom because I’ll get a headache. So, I got some roses.
Not sure yet what I’ll be wearing this weekend. Today I wore Arbole Arbole.

Easter is my favourite celebration also, and for the same reason as yours. The weather is beautifully sunny as well at the moment, but subject to change without notice, the norm here. The buds on my lilac tree are getting ready to pop, and the broom isn’t far behind. My daughter and the Smallies will be arriving later, and spending a few days. I’ll be cooking lamb on Sunday. We’re going to try our hands at a clementine spiced Angel cake. We’ll see how that goes😉 I’ll probably wear L’eau D’hiver, it’s perfect for now. Enjoy your celebrations.

Spring has sprung here, azaleas blooming, pear trees blooming and something that I call tulip trees because the blossoms look like pink and white tulips. And of course, massive pollen everywhere. I have to hose off my car before driving it as it will be covered in a coat of yellow dust, mainly from pine pollen and everything else blooming. The pollen doesn’t bother me except that it turns the pool a funky yellow green. Ugh! Pool service got that fixed quickly this year, thank goodness. Soon it will be warm enough to swim.
I’m wearing Rose Griotte by Les Parfums de Rosine, a lovely rose with cherry and cherry blossom notes. It’s quite lovely. I’m wearing my iris scents as well, Heeley’s Iris de Nuit and Boucheron’s Iris Syracuse.

Ooh, tell us more about Rose Griotte! I have a few Parfums de Rosine fragrances, they’re lovely. I think your “tulip trees” may be the pink magnolias I love, magnolia soulangeana.

Spring and Easter sound wonderful where you are OH.
We are headed into autumn but the weather is putting on a glorious spring showing. The hawthorn bush in the cemetery park across the road is blooming like crazy and the bees are feasting so I’m feeling the spring vibe 100%.
It really feels like Oestre, the old time Goddess of Spring has dropped by for a quick hello.
Completely drenched myself in THC Tokyo Bloom and it’s a perfect fit.
Today we are taking my BFFs Dad out for lunch. Instead of Easter Eggs this year. Just fast food around the corner from him. He’s the closest thing to family Jin and I have here and it will be nice to get him out of the house.
