Welcome to the weekly Perfume Chat Room, perfumistas! I envision this chat room as a weekly drop-in spot online, where readers may ask questions, suggest fragrances, tell others their SOTD, comment on new releases or old favorites, and respond to each other. The perennial theme is fragrance, but we can interpret that broadly. This is meant to be a kind space, so please try not to give or take offense, and let’s all agree to disagree when opinions differ. In fragrance as in life, your mileage may vary! YMMV.
Today is Friday, May 2, and yesterday was May Day in many countries. In France, a May Day tradition is to give bouquets of maguey, or lily of the valley, to loved ones and friends. Apparently this was a tradition faithfully honored by M. Christian Dior, whose favorite flower was the muguet. This inspired, in turn, his work with Edmond Roudnitska to create the legendary Dior fragrance Diorissimo. As regular readers here know, muguet is one of my favorite scents and the flowers are one of my favorite flowers. In past years, I’ve done daily posts in May for a blogging “May Muguet Marathon”, which has been great fun!
Today I’m wearing my newest muguet fragrance, Cavatina by Parfums Dusita. I really love it, especially at this time of year when the weather shifts between late spring and early summer.

Did you do anything special to celebrate May Day? Do you have any new-to-you favorite muguet or other spring fragrances?

Muguet was my first fragrance experience. A Christmas gift of the Lily of the Valley Kiddle Kologne doll. I must have been just 5yo. Dolls were not my favoured toys but Lily went everywhere with me.
The only muguet soliflore I own is a tiny bottle of vintage Diorrissimo Parfum. Note to self, wear it on Monday when the UK has the May Day bank holiday

Cavatina is lovely. I have a small decant that I enjoy. I’ll be getting the Parfums de Nicolai limited Muguet fragrance when @shopfranceinc goes back to Paris next weekend. I love Nicolai’s 30 ml bottles, very reasonably priced and the perfect size.

Happy May Day OH! Sorry I’m late to the party.
We are heading into the colder months here and suddenly in a week we have gone from wearing boxer shorts around the house to track pants.
I’ve just been wearing a decant of Eladaria by Creed today. It’s nice but something doesn’t smell quite right on me. I’m not even sure what it is. Like curdled milk among the flowers. Very strange. I thought it was gorgeous the first wear but subsequently it has been a bit bothersome.

I had the same experience with Eladaria. At first it seemed gorgeous and then I picked up on a strange undertone that ruined the effect for me and it didn’t go away. I consider it money saved! I’m not tempted to buy it, so all is well.

Their perfumer must be anosmic to it RR, but it’s so stomach churning I can’t understand how it got through testing.
Yeah, money saved.

I only have two Creed fragrances, Fantasia de Fleurs and Fleurissimo. I like both of them very much, but generally I don’t gravitate to Creed. It just feels to me as if there are more interesting brands to try. Do you have any favorite Creeds?

Woo Hoo! SNAP on Fantasia de Fleurs! I have a bottle of it too. Also Iris Tuberose.
Also, I have a bottle of Carmina and have a serious love/hate relationship with it. Depends on the day/mood/weather.
Lastly, I’ve just recently bought a massively discounted Delphinous tester. Jin tried it while we were overseas and it smells so amazing on him. You have no idea. So he will get it for his birthday.
When Creed is good it’s perfect, otherwise they can be a little pedestrian on me.
I recently rediscovered Fleurissimo, it’s freaking gorgeous but I don’t think it would get the wear when I have so many gorgeous springlike florals already.

Now that I’ve visited Vienna and the “Sisi” sights, I’ll have to get out my Fantasia de Fleurs more often, since it is claimed to have been created for her.
