Perfume Chat Room, September 18

Welcome to the weekly Perfume Chat Room, perfumistas! I envision this chat room as a weekly drop-in spot online, where readers may ask questions, suggest fragrances, tell others their SOTD, comment on new releases or old favorites, and respond to each other. The perennial theme is fragrance, but we can interpret that broadly. This is meant to be a kind space, so please try not to give or take offense, and let’s all agree to disagree when opinions differ. In fragrance as in life, your mileage may vary! YMMV.

Today is Friday, September 18, and we are back from our niece’s wedding! It was so much fun, and it was great to spend a lot of time with my extended family (this niece is my sister’s daughter). She was a truly beautiful bride, her groom is lovely, and the weather was great.

I wore the 100th anniversary Shalimar all weekend, and it was perfect for both the occasion and the season. It’s a shame that the new L’Heure Bleue apparently is not as successful. I haven’t tried it, have you?

Back in the South, it is still too hot (95 degrees!) for many fragrances, including Shalimar. I’ve been enjoying some Jo Malone offerings, like Silver Birch and Lavender.

Has the weather turned yet in your part of the world? What fragrances are you wearing these days?

  1. your email arrived during my HS football game. Weather was better – actually added a long sleeve layer after halftime. Wearing Stash of course (the usual luck didn’t help our team, sadly). I have been wearing a wild variety of perfumes lately as the weather is mostly hot but a random cooler day here and there. I have seen some L’Heure Bleue reviews that were pretty dismal…

  2. Heya OH,
Love weddings. Wishing your couple decades of comfortable, safe and fun living together.

I’ve bought the new L’Heure Bleue but have been too scared to open it after all the online beat down. Then on Friday I was out with a girlfriend and as I approached her I could smell something absolutely wonderful. She had dropped into our big snazzy department store and given herself a few hefty spritzes. It was divine. Nothing like the OG but so good, she smelled amazing. So maybe this week I’ll get to ripping off that cellophane…

We have turned the corner from winter to spring, wearing all the florals and aquatics through the days and still hitting some warmer scents for evening.

  3. The apple leaves are falling here but it’s still largely green from the soft rains we’ve been having. The grass is recovering other the Mr Jarvis Cockapoo’s toilet places. It’s cooler 23-23c (73-78f) with breezes but still more humid than I like.
I’m having a white floral spell, Madge’s TorD, Woods of Windsor Lily of the Valley & my new Diorissimo have all been worn in the last week. Dioriviera & it’s pretty figginess has also been worn til the sample is almost gone. So perfect for the current weather but a full bottle is way out of my price range
