Perfume Chat Room, October 11

Welcome to the weekly Perfume Chat Room, perfumistas! I envision this chat room as a weekly drop-in spot online, where readers may ask questions, suggest fragrances, tell others their SOTD, comment on new releases or old favorites, and respond to each other. The perennial theme is fragrance, but we can interpret that broadly. This is meant to be a kind space, so please try not to give or take offense, and let’s all agree to disagree when opinions differ. In fragrance as in life, your mileage may vary! YMMV.

Today is Sunday, October 11, and I’m late posting because I spent much of yesterday at Fumed Expo, an exhibition and marketplace for indie fragrances! It was great fun, and very well-attended.

There were 65 or so brands represented, including some very well-known ones like American Perfumer, Chris Collins, and Maya Njie.

Plus so many others that were new to me! I bought several discovery sets which I’ll enjoy exploring, including the set from Frederico Parfums, whose perfumer is Justin Frederico. My favorite among them was Posh Affair, a chypre that reminded me strongly of Guerlain’s Mitsouko and Parure. All are in extrait strength.

It was also exciting to see the wide diversity of both perfumers and attendees!

So many scents, so little time! And lots of interesting perfumers onsite. The only other such event I’ve attended was the Barnes Fragrance Fair in the UK, which I highly recommend.

Have you been able to attend any?

  1. I look forward to reading your impressions for those discovery sets that you’ve bought.

I haven’t been to any perfume-related events in forever. I need to get back to finding and attending those again since I always loved it.

Was it an event open to public? Could anyone buy tickets and go?
